Dr. Tien Le is the Founder of Total Spine & Brain Institute and a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in minimally invasive, robotic-assisted, and complex spine surgery. Since 2014, he has provided advanced spine care to patients throughout Tampa Bay and is widely recognized for combining technical surgical expertise with a thoughtful, patient-centered approach to care.

Dual fellowship-trained in Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and Complex Spinal Deformity Surgery, Dr. Le brings a highly specialized skill set to the region. He is among a select group of spine surgeons trained by Dr. Kevin Foley, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern minimally invasive spine surgery.

Dr. Le earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, where he was recognized as Neurosurgery Student of the Year. He completed neurosurgical residency training at the Cleveland Clinic and USF, serving as Chief Resident during his final year. He also completed advanced fellowship training under internationally recognized spine surgeons including Dr. Juan Uribe, Dr. Kevin Foley, and Dr. Julius Fernandez.

Known for his precise surgical technique and clinical judgment, Dr. Le treats a broad range of spinal conditions including herniated discs, spinal stenosis, cervical and lumbar degenerative disease, spinal deformity, revision spine surgery, and traumatic spinal disorders. Patients frequently seek his expertise for both first and second opinions, particularly in complex cases where prior treatments have failed or surgery has been recommended elsewhere.

While Dr. Le is highly experienced in advanced surgical techniques, his philosophy is straightforward: treat the patient, not simply the MRI. Many spinal conditions improve without surgery, and he believes every patient deserves an honest, individualized evaluation before considering an operation. When surgery is necessary, his goal is to provide the least invasive and most effective solution possible while minimizing disruption to surrounding tissues and supporting a faster recovery.

Dr. Le has been performing robotic-assisted spine surgery since 2013 and was the first surgeon in Tampa and Hillsborough County to perform robotic spine surgery using the Mazor X™ platform. He also has extensive experience in motion-preserving cervical disc replacement surgery for appropriately selected patients.

In addition to leading his private practice, Dr. Le leads the neurosurgery program at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital as Medical Director of Neurosurgery, where he helps guide the continued growth and advancement of neurosurgical care within the region.

Dr. Le has authored numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters in neurosurgery and spine surgery and has presented his work nationally. He has also been recognized as a Top Doctor in Neurosurgery by Tampa Magazine for five consecutive years through peer recognition within the medical community.
